Terms of use

Terms of use

These terms govern access to and use of the public instance at flick.d3l.tech. Sending a file, downloading one with a code or creating an account means you accept them.

Last updated: September 22, 2026

1. Purpose and acceptance

These terms of use govern access to and use of the Flick file transfer service as operated by Matteo TUTTI, Valentino ZARRILLO, Matthias YILDIRIM, Antoine MALGAT at https://flick.d3l.tech.

Using the service, by sending a file, downloading a file with a code or creating an account, means you accept these terms in full. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

The service is available free of charge, with no minimum commitment and no payment of any kind.

2. Definitions

Service
The public instance of Flick available at https://flick.d3l.tech, its web interface and its command line client.
Transfer
A file or set of files uploaded to the Service, together with their metadata and expiry date.
Code
The short word sequence generated for each Transfer, for example ocean-tiger-42, used to download it.
Sender
The person who uploads a Transfer, with or without an account.
Recipient
The person who downloads a Transfer using the Code.
Self-hosted instance
Any installation of Flick operated by a third party on its own infrastructure, to which these terms do not apply.

3. How it works, and its limits

The Sender uploads a file, the Service returns a Code, and the Sender passes that Code to the Recipient through any channel they choose. The Recipient enters the Code on the site or in the command line client to retrieve the file.

The public instance applies the following limits:

Maximum size
1000 MB per Transfer.
Expiry
15 minutes by default, 4 hours at most.
Downloads
1 by default, 5 at most per Transfer.
Stored volume
1 GB without an account, 5 GB with an account, 10 GB per group on instances that provide them.
Rate
The Service may cap the number of uploads per hour, per sender and per IP address, to keep it available.
Protection
A password can be required to download. It is never stored in clear text.

These values reflect the current configuration of the public instance. They may be adjusted at any time for technical or security reasons, and differ on self-hosted instances.

Group creation is not open on the public instance. An account there gives access to your history and personal shares. Groups and advanced administration require installing Flick on your own server.

4. Expiry and deletion of Transfers

Every Transfer is deleted automatically as soon as its expiry date is reached or the allowed number of downloads is used up, whichever comes first.

That deletion is final and irreversible. No backup copy is kept and the publishers cannot restore an expired Transfer, for any reason.

Flick is not a storage service, not a backup solution and not an archiving tool. Always keep the original of what you send.

5. The Code is the key

A Transfer is available to anyone holding its Code, within its expiry date and remaining download count. The Service does not verify the identity of the Recipient.

It is therefore up to you to pass the Code through a channel you consider safe, to pick the shortest expiry that works, and to require a password for sensitive content.

Uploads made from the browser are not end-to-end encrypted: the server handles the file in clear text in order to store it. The command line client offers end-to-end encryption through the --encrypt option, in which case the server never holds the key.

6. Accounts

Creating an account is optional. It requires a username, a valid email address and a password, and gives access to the history of your shares. Sending and receiving files remains possible without an account.

By creating an account, you agree to the following:

  • provide accurate information and keep your email address up to date;
  • keep your password confidential and answer for actions taken from your account;
  • report any unauthorised use without delay to matteo.tutti@epitech.eu;
  • not use another person's account and not share your credentials.

An open session stays valid for 7 days, then expires. You can sign out at any time from your profile and request deletion of your account at matteo.tutti@epitech.eu.

7. Prohibited uses

You are solely responsible for the files you upload and for having the right to distribute them. The Service must not be used to transmit or distribute:

  • content infringing copyright, related rights, trade marks or any other intellectual property right of third parties;
  • child sexual abuse material, content provoking or glorifying terrorism, or inciting hatred, violence or discrimination;
  • content infringing privacy, image rights, the confidentiality of correspondence or the honour of others;
  • personal data of third parties without a legal basis allowing you to disclose it;
  • malware, ransomware, stolen data or stolen credentials;
  • content intended for a phishing campaign, mass unsolicited messaging or any other fraudulent operation.

Disrupting the Service is equally prohibited, in particular by circumventing quotas, expiry times or request rate limits, by automating uploads beyond normal use, by attempting to enumerate other people's Codes, or by seeking access to data or server components you have no right to.

8. Moderation, suspension and termination

The publishers may, without notice, delete a manifestly unlawful Transfer reported to them, block an account that breaches these terms, restrict access from an IP address behind abusive use, and suspend or shut down the public instance.

A blocked account keeps access to its profile, so its holder can challenge the measure at matteo.tutti@epitech.eu.

You may stop using the Service at any time, without justification and at no cost.

9. Availability and absence of warranty

The Service is provided as is and as available, free of charge. No service level, minimum availability or restoration time is guaranteed.

Access may be interrupted at any time for maintenance, updates, a technical incident or a decision to shut down the public instance. To the extent permitted by law, the publishers do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, nor the preservation of Transfers.

10. Liability

For files uploaded by users, the publishers act as a host within the meaning of article 6 of the LCEN. They carry out no general monitoring of content and incur liability only from the moment when, having been duly informed of manifestly unlawful content, they fail to act promptly to remove it.

The Sender indemnifies the publishers against any third-party claim based on a file they uploaded.

To the extent permitted by law, the publishers cannot be held liable for the loss of an expired or deleted file, for a Code disclosed by the Sender or the Recipient, for indirect damage such as loss of business or data, or for an event of force majeure.

Nothing in these terms excludes the publishers' liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, nor the rights that the law grants users on a mandatory basis.

11. Intellectual property

The software is distributed under the MIT licence and its source code is available at https://github.com/Flick-Corp/flick. That licence grants you no right over the Flick name, logo and visual identity.

You keep every right you hold over the files you upload. You grant the publishers only the technical right to store them and transmit them to the Recipient, for the duration of the Transfer and for the purposes of the Service alone.

12. Personal data

Personal data processing, its legal bases, retention periods and the ways to exercise your rights are described in the privacy policy.

13. Self-hosted instances

Flick may be installed freely on your own infrastructure. These terms then do not apply: whoever operates the instance sets its rules of use, secures it and becomes responsible for the data it processes.

The software is provided with no warranty whatsoever, under the terms of the MIT licence.

14. Changes to these terms

These terms may change, in particular to follow the Service or the applicable regulations. The version in force is the one published on this page, with its update date. Continuing to use the Service after a change means accepting the new version.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. If a problem arises, contact matteo.tutti@epitech.eu first: an amicable solution will be sought. Failing agreement, the dispute falls to the competent French courts.

The French version of this document prevails. The English translation is provided for information only.
