Why Flick

File sharing that stays yours

Most file-sharing tools store your files on someone else's cloud. Flick is open source and self-hosted: you own the server, the data and the rules. Send files with a short code, no account, no tracking.

Self-hosted

Run Flick on your own server. Your files never leave infrastructure you control.

Open source

The whole codebase is open. Read it, audit it, and adapt it to your needs.

No third-party cloud

Transfers stay on your machine, not on someone else's storage.

Share with a short code

Send a file and get a short, human-readable code. No long links to copy.

No account required

Anyone can send or receive a file anonymously. Accounts are optional.

Expiry & password control

Set how long a file lives, add a password, and limit downloads.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Flick really self-hosted?

Yes. You deploy Flick on your own server, so your files stay on infrastructure you own and control. They never pass through a third-party cloud.

Is Flick free and open source?

Yes. Flick is free and fully open source. You can read the code, self-host it, and adapt it to your needs.

Do I need an account to send a file?

No. Anyone can send files anonymously and share the generated code. Accounts are optional and add history and your personal shares.

How do recipients download a file?

They enter the short code you share (or open the link) and download from a clean web page. No install and no account needed.

Can I control how long files stay available?

Yes. You can set an expiry, require a password and limit the number of downloads for each transfer.

Can I create groups on flick.d3l.tech?

No. On the public flick.d3l.tech instance, creating an account gives you history and your personal shares, but not group creation. Groups and advanced admin controls are only available when you self-host Flick on your own server.
